Pepsi

Pepsi is an internationally recognised carbonated cola drink, offering great taste and refreshment. The range is made up of Pepsi Regular - which provides the full classic Pepsi taste, Diet Pepsi, with a light and crisp diet cola taste, and Pepsi Max which offers the full cola taste with no sugar. It is one of the leading soft drinks brands in the world.

Pepsi was invented in the USA back in 1898, by a pharmacist called Caleb D Bradham. Five years later ‘Brad’s drink’ as it was originally known, became Pepsi Cola and in 1903 launched its first advertising campaign with the confident boast of ‘aids digestion.’

The ‘digestive aid’ was repositioned over the following years through imaginative marketing campaigns. From its first celebrity sponsorship in 1909, when pioneering racing driver Barney Oldfield endorsed Pepsi as ‘a fine bracer before a race’, to its current links with some of the biggest names in music and sport, innovation has always been at the heart of Pepsi.

In between, the brand has been behind the first ever national radio jingle in 1939, while in the 1950s, Pepsi was promoted for the first time as ‘an experience’ with the slogan ‘be sociable, have a Pepsi’.

Today Pepsi has strong associations with both music and sport. Since the 1980s the brand has linked with some of the biggest music stars of the day, from Michael Jackson and Tina Turner, through to Rod Stewart and more recently Britney Spears and Beyonce.

Pepsi has an equally strong heritage with sport, particularly with football in the UK, and has featured some of the world’s top players in a series of advertising campaigns. It was the official sponsor of Team England during Euro 2004 and the World Cup 2006.

Britvic’s relationship with Pepsi began in 1987, when the company was awarded the UK franchise. The EBA (Exclusive Bottling Agreement) was successfully renewed with PepsiCo in 2004.
